Apaches Oei!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Recently, I signed up as a student leader for this red camp. Though in the beginning I knew nothing much about the whole event, getting more involved helps as it allows me in getting the edge of being able to build stronger ties with the campers and most importantly making sure campers had a better understanding of the schools and thus benefit from this little campaign. Moving on, here are some of the highlights of the camp.

Day1 started off where sl’s and campers gathered at the convention center for the official opening of the camp. You could see 5 different tribes of different colours segregated among the entire hall and well it was a wonderful sight. Starting on the left, we had the mighty apaches in red, the seductive centurions in yellow, fierce Spartans in the middle in white, followed by the horny Vikings in green and lastly the funny ninjas in blue.
First item of the day was put up by our very own barracudas, their music really heated us up, and thus drew all of our attention as we carried on with the skid! It was just a show on how each individual tribe came about. Quite entertaining I should say, especially with those adorable ninja moves! And maybe that was how it broke the tensed atmosphere within the convention hall.
Headed off to the health science block, saw pretty much on the medical side which I doesn’t very regularly, There was the baby care station, icu and operation theatre station, not forgetting the video viewing, so on and so forth… One of the most unforgettable events that happened was the short demonstration on how experiments in labs were done. It was such because, so far as I can recall, a particular demo went wrong and causes a small explosion in the lecture room. All of us got a shock, the doc too, surely he never expect that to happen on such a day. We were all relieved that no one was hurt in the process, but was rather petrified after a misjudgment by the specialist.
A heavy meal and right after we were on our way to the school of film and media studies together with school of humanities as campers can have a feel of what it’s like to be in the filming industries, such as getting involved in broadcasting, news reporting, photo shoot, etc…
And that pretty much sums up the day as we went back to the convention center for CCA fiesta. And I can tell you, the range of CCAs Ngee Ann offers is just so wide, over a hundred of them in total for students to choose from. Well, I’m one example that is pretty much involved in them, six on my list though.
Before ending the first day, we taught the campers some cheers, one of them sounded as if we’re a bunch of red Indians, well that was our mascot. First day was already so fun, more to come on the second I suppose.

What really struck my mind when I thought of day 2 was of course the mass dance. SL’s took some time before mastering all the moves. Well, now it was our turn to teach them that. Initially, none of them seems really enthusiastic about it obviously but after a demonstration on stage from all the sl’s. All of them started to gain interest! and that was a very good sign, in terms of having people really participating in it.
After all, it was fun! Laughing at each other’s silly mistakes, having to try it out themselves! Those emcees and dancers on stage appeared really confident! And yes! Sl’s pretty much enjoyed themselves and I’m sure the campers feels the same way too.
Back tracking, visited the school of business in the morning before moving to the school of infocomm technology in the late afternoon. The day stayed that way till the end.
Furthermore, two allies were formed. One of them was the Achukings, the other was the Spanjas. Well of cos, I will say the Achukings is the better of the two right!!! But this seems like a marriage of convenience…(thinking politically)

THE BIG DAY, MOST IMPORTANT DAY! DAY 3!! Mass dance+hop nite =) FLAWLESS combination.
Visited the engineering side on the last day of the camp, and ya, planes!!!!
Highlight of the day was the cheer competition. Spend lots of effort getting the whole apache to practice on them but I should say everyone did a great job, and I’m glad to see campers also heavily involved in it. Maybe because those cheer gave them a sense of identity and a sense of belonging… and even for the mass dance, each tribe had their own unique beginning move….
The cheers competition was certainly fun and hmm…a little dangerous I should say. The funny part comes when a PHYSICAL war actually broke out between Spartans and Apaches!! For some reason, the Spartans always attack and marched towards us. It has been like that since the start of the camp and the rivalry became bigger as each day progress. So, ya we had our self defense!! The SLs lined themselves up on the frontline and apaches campers were just behind us as we prepare ourselves for a serious battle. The war finally broke out, and our allies(reinforcement) came to the rescue!!!! It’s really cool! Looks so dramatic…
Though lots of us fell but, it was fun being a part of it… eventually, we the mighty apaches won!!!!! Wow. That very moment when results were announced, many of us seated down just went crazy as we continued with all our cheer yet again! It’s hard to control our joy=)
A finale followed by the mass dance almost rounds all the whole camp.

AND YES!! Hop nite is finally came. We waited. And waited. Everyone just seemed so on about it. Hop Nite!
DJ Andrew Chow definitely lives up to his name! The moment he was in the spotlight, practically the whole hall was filled with enthusiasm. People got super high and I mean SUPER HIGH. Many were jumping around as we groove it to the music. Looks pretty much like clubbing, though I didn’t really been to one but certainly I can feel it right here. As I could see, many enjoyed themselves.

Time really flies. The camp comes to and end. Enjoyed myself in this camp, besides benefiting all in a way or another and it’s something that doesn’t come by all the time. R

RED CAMP JUST ROCKS!! Probably the best camp one can ever attend=)

A WALK TO REMEMBER
*love is like the wind, you can't see it, but you can feel it.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Each Spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, when the wind smells of pine and salt and the sea, Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life.

Jamie was the last person Landon was likely to fall for. Serious and conservative, she was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn’t care. The daughter of the town’s Baptist minister, Jamie was not afraid of letting people know that her faith was the most important part of her life, even if it cost her some friends. Landon hung with the in-crowd -- an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado. He had no plans, no future and no faith in himself.

One night a prank that he and his buddies set up goes terribly wrong and lands a kid in the hospital. As punishment, Landon must tutor a young student at a poor school and participate in the Drama Club’s Spring play two activities the principal hopes will teach him some humility. They also happen to throw him into close contact with Jamie. Clearly in over his head, Landon is forced to ask her for help.

Soon, against his own expectations, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible. But it isn’t easy. For reasons of her own, Jamie does everything she can to run away from romance until it becomes impossible to deny.

Being together will test everything that they believe in. Most of all, it will test the power of love and faith to transform a life into something worth living.

"some phrases quoted from the movie", found it quite meaningful

>> i do not need a reason to be angry with god

>> god has a bigger plan for me, than i have for myself
like this journey never ends

>> your is sent to me because i'm sick, tell me through all these

>> your my angel!

Reflections
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Whatever your cross,
Whatever your pain,
There will always be sunshine,
After the rain...

Perhaps you may stumble,
Perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready,
To answer your call...

He knows every heartache,
Sees every tear,
A word from His lips,
Can calm every fear...

Your sorrows may linger,
Throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish,
In dawn's early light...

The Savior is waiting,
Somewhere above,
To give you His grace,
And send you His love...

Whatever your cross,
Whatever your pain,
"God always sends rainbows...
After the rain..."

To get out of difficulty, one must usually go through it !

RED CAMP!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

RED Camp 4 is just like... EXACTLY ONE WEEK AWAY! And as we draw nearer to the ultra fun event, me myself as one of the Student Leaders am excited and i'm sure everyone else does too. We all will definetly enjoy ourselves in the camp but most importantly for the campers is that they get to learn and experience more about life in NP!
Went for briefing today and yesterday, a swap of tribes, was in Vikings but got transfered to Apaches, not knowing the reason, just hoping that everything turns out well. Moving on to the climax..
Gotten a little of feel of what i'll be expecting on the camp itself. Had so fun with the cheering of our tribe and also that mass dance we'll be having on the last day of the camp. By the way the track was taken from High School Musical 2! and yar, felt really great.
Hop Night and overnight Karaoke Session will be two things i'll be looking forward to , and of course at the end of the day i hope to make a couple more of friends..
till then. see your guys in camp! GO GO APACHES!

APACHES

More commonly known as the Red Indians, Apaches are the indigenous people from North America. The Apachean tribes were powerful tribespeople, fierce warriors and skillful strategists. They are also known to be extremely versant hunters who never fail to hit their target with the deadly bow-and arrow weapon. For many years since recorded history, Apaches have and will continue to be held together closely by a strong sense of unity.

God uses every experience and struggle to sanctify you

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

There’re times in our lives when we desperately need a fresh touch from the Lord. We face unexpected circumstances; one example will be painful relationships. We desperately need a fresh touch from God and we know it.
However, too often the first thing we do when we feel desperate is to look for a quick fix. We say things like “If God won’t do anything, I’ll do it myself.” “If God won’t heal this relationship, I’ll end it.”
But all the efforts to fix our problems or resolve the crisis won’t yield much. The Lord wants so much to hear us say, “Forgive me, Lord. I thought I was right, but now I see I was just looking for an out.”
Whether we know it or not, that’s a good place to be. God’s always ready to reveal to a humble heart the futility of effort apart from Him. Jesus in John 21 is asking you “Are you ready to give me this thing that troubles you?
He’s using every experience, struggle, to sanctify us. Next time you wonder what God could be up to, just say to yourself, “He’s changing me,” and you’ll be right. When disappointments or heartaches come, try to imagine God Himself holding the chisel sculpting your likeness into His.

All these happen because God wants to demonstrate His power and splendor through my life. He wants to get me to the place where no matter what happens to me or what I’m going through, I’ll trust Him and walk to please Him, and are committed wholly to what He’s doing in me. I’ll invite Him to do His work in me, and watch Him display His awesomeness through me, and that I’m living right in the center of His will.

I believe that someday the whole tapestry will unfold for me, but for now I have to believe in spite of what is happening. God meant it for my good and for His glory in every situation. I must trust that what appears unloving may in fact be his great kindness.
“God is at work in your time of crisis.” Whatever is challenging and stretching me right now – be it in my family, studies, personal walk with God, or even my struggles, I believe that He’s at work. He’s building my faith in every circumstance. He knows all about the thing that is breaking my heart.

As soon as a problem drops on the table in my life, I wanted to find a way to squeeze out from under the pressure. But I believe that He himself has a purpose in mind when He allows trails to invade our lives. Like turning turning coal into diamonds, some things only happen under a lot of pressure. Staying under the pressure is how God tests my faith in order to make me a better person. But first, I’ll have to make it through the process.
The issue here is not about facing trials, it’s how I’ll respond to them. I can bail on God and take matters into my own hands by becoming bitter and angry with His doing or anyone else’s. Or, I can submit Him and let God do His work with the confidence that He will not waste my sorrows and that, in the end, “all things work together for good.”

Sometimes I may wonder how a God of love allow that painful, wicked or difficult thing that happened in my past to hit me that hard. But nevertheless, I would say wait on the Lord. There will be a day when I’ll look back and see God’s sovereign hand at work in those trials. The truth is, He is in control of the situation that troubles my heart right now. Lean on the Lord and believe that He is working and one day I might just succeed.

>>and it will be 8 months after the 12a.m. mark.

A place never like home

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Choir Choir! So happened that one day my friend who went with us for the vacation trip was from choir. I remembered that time we were talking about the various CCAs we have and hers was choir. After hearing from her, due to my personal interest and desire, I joined the choir for practice.
Since then, I have never regretted it. Besides learning all the basic techniques of singing, I learned that expressing of your feelings towards the song is important too. With such a comprehensive formula, I am sure that it would help me to sing better.
Choir is also a place where I can find peace, comfort and love. After being together for quite sometime, they could tell when I was facing with lots of struggles, especially with my personal stuff. And because of that I tend to be emotional most of the time. Nevertheless, they never failed to shower their concern. All of them would express their concern in one way or another and it really touches me.
Perhaps through this time, we have grown together, bonded with each other and I am so glad to have found another place to call home.

To end this sharing, I would like to update your on the upcoming performance with the choir. Below are the dates and venues for those performances. Do come down to support us. Yeah! =)

I see your face
I look away
You've left me here without a trace

I hear your laugh
It melts my heart
But let me tell you I was my acting tough
Trying to find my missing path

You walked away
You never looked back
You never heard what my heart wanted to say
Right now my life is on the wrong track
I'm lost I can't find the way
I hope the sun will shine again someday
and God will show me the way

thank God for everything. Especially through this week, when i'm faced with so much, you pulled me through eventually. This song came about when ervine and i were sharing some personal stuff between us, it definetely expresses my feelings though the content wasn't there? It's of God's grace that this song is created, such a wonderful piece of lyrics written by the arts of ervine, hah and i did help out in some part of the editing. It will be one of the first song our band had came out with. Yeah, sing praise to the Lord!
Having shown some result, we mustn't slacken and to work harder in it. Meaning that i had to set aside some time from my usual busy schedule and to fill the melody up. Hopefully it will be completed by the end of the week. Readers, please check out for more updates on me in the upcoming post. tata...
